What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be building a pool of diverse, world-class leaders that will help us stay ahead of the competition. You’ll identify high-potential talent and cultivate that talent, making sure our succession pipeline is healthy and our strongest performers are here to stay. Your role will be critical in building the next generation of leaders and taking care of our people—our most important asset.

  • Identifying top talent and building a pipeline of future leaders.
  • Planning for immediate and longer term succession needs.
  • Implementing standard assessment and other talent management tools and processes.
  • Driving talent calibration and reviews with the executive team and direct reports.
  • Creating development plans for top talent with human resources business partners.
  • Educating the business about talent management processes, tools, and best practices.

Reporting to Director of HR Strategy & Performance, Manager-HR will be responsible for designing and delivering national-scale strategic programs supporting Verizon Wireless HQ HR team.

As an expert individual contributor with high level leadership exposure, Manager-HR will:

  • Lead programs and projects with broad scope and impact, including career progression, organizational design, performance and talent management, leadership development, workforce planning, recognition programs, etc.
  • Design new programs, develop action plans and change management & communication strategies, and drive alignment across relevant HR and functional leaders and teams to ensure timely delivery of HR programs and solutions to meet strategic business plans.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating results, monitor and analyze impact, facilitate consolidation of various data requests, and provide regular presentations and read-outs to senior leadership.
  • Support management of HR budget and expenses.

What we’re looking for...

You are a keen analytical and critical thinker. You’re adept at influencing others, both directly and indirectly. You have excellent prioritization and time management skills, and you’re used to managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. And thanks to your strong business acumen and interpersonal skills, your clients and colleagues see you as a trusted partner.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Talent management or human resources experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in human resources, industrial/organizational psychology, or an MBA.
  • Managed talent calibration and review processes.
  • Developed succession plans and conducted formal talent assessments.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft HRMS and Cognos.

  • 6+ years of HR work experience, at least 2 years working with senior managers on high-level HR issues and initiatives
  • Proven experience in program and project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, at least 2 or more years of demonstrated experience in data analysis building & presenting solutions to executive clients
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision‐making skills
  • Ability to engage and influence all levels of clients, including senior VPs
  • Experience leading transformation initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely results
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Strong teamwork
  • Experience in PeopleSoft and HR systems
